Albert Pujols St. Louis Cardinals 2001 Game Used Worn Rookie Home Jersey
Game worn jersey with the best provenance from Rob Steinmetz of Authentic Gamers. The jersey was acquired by Steinmetz from a Pujols family member. The COA from Authentic Gamers is attached. In 2001, Pujols was an All Star, was 4th in the MVP voting, won a Silver Slugger award and most importantly he won the Rookie of the Year Award. Pujols is a first ballot Hall of Famer and certainly one of the greatest right handed hitters ever to play the game. Real game worn jerseys of his are the rarest in baseball, especially the Cardinals jerseys. During his rookie season some jerseys were trimmed and some were not, until he established his regular trimming standard. This jersey is tagged "Set 1, 2001". After his rookie season most of the Cardinals jerseys that he released were road jerseys through a family member. Home jerseys were rarely released with the exception of home jerseys given to charity auctions, traded with other players, used by Upper Deck, or won by fans in "Shirt off their back" giveaways. As a home jersey, with authentication from Authentic Gamer's Rob Steinmetz (the sole reliable authenticator of his jerseys), this is one of the rarest jerseys in the modern era of the sport. I purchased the jersey from Chris Middendorf who purchased it directly from Rob Steinmetz.
