Pujols used only Nike gloves in 2003, but there were subtle changes this season. All black and black and red (two-toned) gloves were used in 2003, with RED embroidery on the thumb of each glove. Beware of Nike gloves that show excessive use and have strange initials hand-written on the inside or outside of the glove - and also be aware of 2003 gloves that are not broken in or show artificial game use. 2004 and 2005: When Albert made the switch to playing full-time IB, he also switched to Rawlings gloves. Pujols' IB gloves are embroidered with his children's names on the thumb in red. The first glove Rawlings made for Pujols was light tan with red lacing, but later models were black and red or dark brown. To date, only two game worn Rawlings first baseman's gloves have surfaced in the hobby - one light tan with red lacing (used in Spring Training), and another black and red glove that was sold at the PFF's 2005 Christmas Gala (used throughout 2005 and during the final game at old Busch Stadium). One other "game issued" unused glove was sold by Steiner Sports in an online auction. 2006: For the third consecutive season, Pujols used only a Rawlings glove. In 2005, Albert used both a tan and a black and red glove. In 2006, he used only a black and red glove. The main glove used by Pujols during the 2006 season was kept by him. No back-up models have surfaced to date. On a related note, 2006 marked the first time Pujols won a Gold Glove Award. According to the original seller this bat was used in the NLCS against the San Francisco Giants at Pack Bell Park on 10/13/2002. According to the seller, Albert slammed the bat on National TV after a disappointing at bat. The bat boy named Kenney Wadell who was a Bat Boy for 56 Games for the Giants in 2002, whose father was on the community relations committee for Pack Bell, retrieved the bat from the club house floor and the knob out of the garbage. This bat has been repaired. Albert went 1 for 4 in this game and the Cardinals lost 4-3. According to Birdbats.com, Albert Pujols Louisville Slugger Shipping Records show there were only 3 Galen C243 Bats shipped in 2002 and those 3 are the only Galen C243's he has ordered making this one super rare. This is my favorite Pujols Bat and the C243 Galen will be hard to find. This Game Used Bat came from a large Pujols collection I purchased in February 2008. I am looking for the other two C243 Galens, if you have one let me know https://www.stlouismemorabilia.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=37604736 37604736 Albert Pujols 2002 Game Used C243 Louisville Slugger Bat Albert Pujols Strikes Out SAN FRANCISCO - OCTOBER 13: Albert Pujols #5 of the St. Louis Cardinals strikes out in the ninth inning of game four during the National League Championship series against the San Francisco Giants on October 13, 2002 at Pacific Bell Park in San Francisco, California. The Game Used Bats came from a large collection I purchased in February 2008. Jeff Scott of Birdbats.com stated "Just because a bat comes with a letter of authenticity, don't go into a purchase blindly. The authenticators who sign those letters might know their stuff, but they probably are not watching every Pujols at bat, talking with people inside the Cardinals organization or examining virtually every Pujols bat that is offered at auction by the Cardinals, ARF or PFF. Their letters will tell you a bat is a Pujols model consistent with factory records and that it is used, but they're often careful not to say that Pujols used the bat. That's because unless there's photo evidence, they can't be certain. Frankly, unless he walked from home plate to the stands and handed me the bat personally, I couldn't tell you whether Pujols absolutely used a specific bat, either. " https://www.stlouismemorabilia.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=34093213 34093213 Multi Stamped 2003 Louisville Slugger ALBERT PUJOLS BAT The seller I got this from stated: "The stamp on the bat was messed up at the factory and has multiple stamps for some reason. My church in Destin Fl had one of the groups come in who did strength things. Bending steele bars, busting concrete blocks and breaking baseball bats over legs and necks etc. Part of the agreement was we were to have all these items ready for them. They told us to contact Louisville Slugger for the Bats. We did and they shipped us various bats that had been mis-stamped. Seeing the one with Albert on it I said this one cannot be broken and Pastor told me I could keep it. I am not sure if it was 2002 or 2003". This is a really unique Albert Pujols item that was stamped 4 times at the Louisville Slugger factory. The scoring began with Carlos Beltrán coming home in the top of the first off of a sacrifice fly. The Cardinals responded in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer by the red-hot Albert Pujols. In the third, Jeff Bagwell hit a double for Astros, bringing Carlos Beltrán back home and putting another one for the Astros. Again, the Cardinals responded when Edgar Rentería hit a single scoring Albert Pujols and Scott Rolen. In the top of the ninth inning, two outs from losing, Bagwell hit a miracle single, scoring the tying run in Morgan Ensberg. The game went into extra innings, but the Astros' good fortune turned sour when Jim Edmonds, who hit 42 home runs in the regular season, hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the twelfth, sending the series to a Game 7 showdown. The Cardinals beat Houston 6-4 in St. Louis. https://www.stlouismemorabilia.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=147798606 147798606 Albert Pujols 2004 World Series Game Used Hat This is a 2004 World Series Game Used Hat that was used by Albert in the 2004 World Series. SCP Auctions stated "2005 proved to be the season Albert Pujols established himself as a future Hall of Famer. The then St. Louis Cardinals first baseman hit a robust .330 with 41 home runs, one of which being No. 200 of his career. He drove in 117 and scored an NL-best 129 runs to run away with that year's MVP Award. To cap off his first of his three MVPs with the Cards, Pujols came up huge in the post-season as well. In a famous 2005 NLCS Game 5 moment,"The Machine" launched a monster 3-run, game-winning homer off seemingly-dominant closer Brad Lidge in the 9th inning to beat the Astros 5-4, the ball clearing the train tracks above the left-field bleachers in Houston. Albert was wearing this first baseman's glove during that memorable game as well as the final game ever played at old Busch Stadium on October 19, 2005 (Game 6 of that series). He would win his first of two Gold Glove awards the following season. There's a lot of history packed into this glove, which has been professionally photo-matched by Resolution Photomatching to pictures taken of Pujols during Games 5 and 6 of the NLCS against Houston. The impeccable documentation includes a signed LOA from the Pujols Family Foundation to which Pujols is known to donate many game-used items. The glove experts at PSA/DNA have also given it their blessing as a well-worn example used by Pujols in 2005. There's even photo evidence of Sir Albert signing it! The Rawlings Pro AP5B model shows outstanding use with wear visible in the pocket, webbing and body of the custom red and black leather glove. The Rawlings labels are still intact and the top of the thumb has the names of Pujols son A.J. and daughter Isabella embroidered in red thread. To complete this MVP year glove, Albert has signed the back of the fingers in 9/10 silver paint pen adding "NL-MVP-05". Research shows there is not a Pujols glove of this caliber to ever hit the auction block. Game-used fielder's gloves, especially those from superstars, are very tough to collect as players tend to stay loyal to one piece of leather for a whole season and beyond. It is safe to assume that Albert used this mitt for much, if not all, of the 2005 season, his first MVP campaign. Some forget that the now-lumbering DH for the Angels could really pick it when he played in the National League. After joining the 3,000 Hit Club this season and moving into 6th on the all-time home run list, Sir Albert is making a case not just as a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer but as one of the greatest right-handed hitters ever. Includes Game Used LOA from PSA/DNA (Eskin & Taube). LOA from Pujols Family Foundation. LOA from Resolution Photomatching with side-by-side graphics to show the conclusive match to both games. This ball was used for a pitch thrown by Zach Miner to Albert Pujols in the Bottom of the 8th inning which was a foul tip by Albert for strike 2. The Cardinals won the game 5-0 to take a 2-1 series lead. This item has been authenticated by MLB.com and contains a Major League Baseball Authentication hologram. This came directly from the Cardinals. It is very rare to find any World Series items that are authenticated by MLB.com and even more rarer finding an authenticated item involving ALbert Pujols. Albert has kept a lot of his own items from the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals World Championship Season. American Memorabilia stated "Offered is a home Pujols [size] "50" jersey. Outstanding wear is exhibited with consistent puckering on all of the identifiers, great label wear and one significant customization - appearing in the tail. According to a source familiar with Cardinals memorabilia, Pujols has, over the past two seasons, preferred customization in the tail. Three out of four Pujols gamers viewed by the collector had cut tails. This same authority has owned two of Pujols' gamers from 2005, both of which had custom-cut tails. A 2006 Inaugural Season patch adorns the left sleeve. All of the frayed identifiers are applied in two-color tackle twill, and "PUJOLS" is sewn directly to the verso in an arched manner. A Majestic tag appears in the tail with a size flag tag suspended. The inner side gusset features Majestic's "0062" inventory code. One of the most pertinent Pujols gamers worn when he won his first World Series title and possibly second NL MVP Award. While there are numerous rookie jerseys available on the market, this is the first 2006 Pujols gamer we've seen. The absolute best of the best. This has also been verified by a local Cardinals Expert. I currently own this jersey. The below is from Pujols Gamers: A Primer by Rob Steinmetz and Jeff Scott, GAME WORN JERSEYS: 2001: Cardinals jerseys were manufactured by Rawlings. Jerseys were tagged on the inside of the tail with a Rawlings tag, a size flag tag, and a year/set flag tag. No special patches were worn on these jerseys, until after 9/11 when the American flag patch was added to the back of the neck. Pujols wore a size 46 for a short time in April of 2001, and then switched to a size 48. Beware of properly tagged 2001 's with loose embroidery on the front "birds and bat" logo. For a photo reference of what the stitching on the front of Cardinals jerseys SHOULD look like, please refer to The Sporting News' recent hardcover book entitled Cardinal Nation. 2002: Cardinals jerseys were manufactured by Rawlings (for the last time). Jerseys were tagged on the inside of the tail with a Rawlings tag, a size flag tag, and a year/set flag tag. The year/set flag tag on 2002 jerseys are made of a paper flber material instead of the nylon material used in 2001. From April through late June no special patches were worn on the jerseys. After the death of Darryl Kile and Jack Buck, special patches were added to each sleeve. Pujols wore a size 48 for the entire 2002 season. Beware of properly tagged 2002's with retail Buck & Kile patches and/or incon-ect size numbers on the back and front. Please note that the Cardinals did wear only the Buck memorial patch for a very short period of time in 2002, although no examples with just one patch have ever surfaced in the hobby. 2003: Cardinals jerseys were manufactured by Majestic for the first time ever. Jerseys were tagged on the outside of the tail with a Majestic tag and a size flag tag. A very limited number of jerseys have surfaced with a year flag tag, but these are extremely rare. No special patches were worn on 2003 Cardinals jerseys. Pujols wore a size 48 for the entire 2003 season. Pay special attention to the interior wash tag on 2003 Pujols jerseys, which should carry a "0062" code (retail jerseys, which are rarely used in emergency circumstances by the Cardinals, are coded "6200"). Also note that jerseys worn during Spring Training of 2003 have two buttons very close to one another above the Cardinals logo (this "high button" style was canned prior to the start of the 2003 regular season). 2004: Cardinals jerseys were manufactured by Majestic. Jerseys were tagged on the outside of the tail with a Majestic tag and a size flag tag. A very limited number of jerseys have surfaced with a year flag tag, but these are extremely scarce. No special patches were wom on 2004 Cardinals jerseys. Pujols wore a size 48 for most of the 2004 season, switching to a size 50 late in the year (and throughout the postseason). Pay special attention to the interior wash tag on 2004 Pujols jerseys, which should carry a "0062" code (retail jerseys, which are rarely used in emergency circumstances by the Cardinals, are coded "6200"). 2005: Like all MLB teams, Cardinals jerseys were manufactured by Majestic. Several 2005 Cardinals jerseys have surfaced with a year flag tag, but many also did not have year tagging. The Cardinals wore a special Busch Memorial Stadium Final Season patch on the sleeve of both home and road jerseys. Albert wore only size 50 jerseys in 2005, ajl of which reportedly have the pro-coded "0062" interior wash tag. The material on 2005 game used jerseys is unmistakably pro quality - very soft and heavyweight compared to their retail counterparts. It has also been reported that most of Albert's 2005 jerseys have custom straight hemmed tails, while others have the more traditional rounded tails. The jersey worn by Pujols during the last regular season home game at old Busch Stadium, the jersey worn when the "Minute Maid Miracle" homerun was hit off Brad Lidge in Houston, and a home jersey donated by Albert to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Florida ail had custom straight hemmed tails. 2006: Cardinals jerseys were again manufactured by Majestic. Some jerseys had a year flag tag, some did not. The Cardinals wore a special Busch Stadium Inaugural Season patch on the sleeve of their home jerseys. Albert wore only size 50 jerseys in 2006, all of which reportedly have the pro-coded "0062" interior wash tag. It has also been reported that all of Albert's 2006 jerseys have custom straight hemmed tails. Because regular season jerseys were carried over to the World Series in 2006 (patches were added), it has been reported that all of Albert's 2006 jerseys were kept by him. THIS IS EXTREMELY RARE SINCE ALBERT DOES NOT LIKE TO BE CALLED "EL HOMBRE" (THE MAN) DUE TO STAN MUSIAL BEING CALLED "STAN THE MAN". Albert Pujols: Not El Hombre By Bernie Miklasz Greetings from Jupiter, Fla on 2/26/2010. My week at spring training is just about up. 1. Albert Pujols does not like his nickname: In a pleasant and wide-ranging interview that lasted nearly 30 minutes, the Cardinals first baseman and three-time National League MVP was in a great mood and had a lot of things to say. Heres one item: Pujols politely asked that the media and fans refrain from calling him El Hombre because he believes it is disrespectful to Cardinals Hall of Famer Stan The Man Musial. Pujols has said this before, but seems especially adamant this time. I do not want to be called that Pujols said. There is one man that gets that respect, and that is Stan Musial. He is the Man. He is the Man in St. Louis. And I know El Hombre means The Man in Spanish. But Stan is The Man. You can call me whatever else you want, but just do not call me El Hombre. https://www.stlouismemorabilia.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=78102386 78102386 Albert Pujols 2005 and 2007 Game Used and Signed Batting Gloves The two Blue Pair were used in 2005 and the Red Pair were used in 2007. According to the Pujols Foundations Site Pujols Gamers by Rob Steinmetz : 2004 and 2005: When Albert made the switch to playing full-time 1B, he also switched to Rawlings gloves. Pujols 1B gloves are embroidered with his childrens names on the thumb in red. The first glove Rawlings made for Pujols was light tan with red lacing, but later models were black and red or dark brown. To date, only two game worn Rawlings first baseman gloves have surfaced in the hobby , one light tan with red lacing (used in Spring Training), and another black and red glove that was sold at the 2005 Christmas Gala (used throughout 2005 and during the final game at old Busch Stadium). One other game issued unused glove was sold by Steiner Sports in an online auction. On a related note, 2006 marked the first time Pujols won a Gold Glove Award. https://www.stlouismemorabilia.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=34689474 34689474 2006 Albert Pujols Glove Rawlings Glove has Albert's Children A.J. On the final day of the season, Albert broke the MLB all-time record for most assists at first base in a single season, topping the record of 184 set by Bill Buckner of the Boston Red Sox in 1985. It is a great accomplishment, and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be able to do that, said Albert. Going to Spring Training, I do not think I was putting it in my mind to try and break the assist record. But my job was to try to be out there and do everything I can to help my ballclub to win. Recognizing the significance of the event, the St. Louis Cardinals cut the record-breaking first base into 1 x 1 inch squares and sold them in a limited edition of 105 pieces at $100 each. A day earlier, with a toss to pitcher Blake Hawksworth in the eight inning of the October 3 game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium, Albert tied the MLB all-time record of 184 assists. With the record-setting first base in pieces, what happened to base used to tie the record? As it turns out, you're looking at it. The base features the 2009 All-Star Summer jewel on all four sides. An MLB hologram (LH702477) affixed to the bottom of the base attests it was used for the entire October 3, 2009 game. A Pujols Family Foundation Certificate of Authenticity will accompany the item. Before delivery to the winning bidder, the base will be signed by Albert Pujols. Albert will also add the inscription Tied MLB First Base Assists Record. https://www.stlouismemorabilia.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=125450593 125450593 St. Louis Cardinals Albert Pujols 185th Assist Record Piece of Game-Used 1st Base From The Cardinals Milestones Collection - An MLB Authenticated piece of the game-used first base from the October 4, 2009 game where, Albert set the record for most assists in a season by a first baseman at 185. The final chapter of one such story took place September 5, 2009 when Albert Pujols, in the final days of his third MVP campaign, hit a game winning pinch-hit home run in the 10th inning against reliever Matt Capps of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The story began a month earlier, in another match-up between the Cardinals and Pirates. After Skip Schumaker hit a late-game home run off Capps, Albert Pujols stepped up to the plate and was summarily drilled in the rib cage by a 95 mph Capps fastball. Although Mr. Capps was quickly tossed from the game by the home plate umpire, the gauntlet had been thrown. Following the contest, while Albert was quick to dismiss any talk of reprisal, a different perspective was expressed by Shumaker, who said We have our feelings about what happened and l will just leave it at that. Manager Tony La Russa echoed a similar sentiment, when he stated, It was intentional. Fast-forward to September 5, a rare scheduled day off for Albert. With the game knotted at 1-1 in the tenth inning and Matt Capps on the mound, La Russa motioned for Albert to come off the bench and pick up a war club. The extra-inning pinch-hit home run that followed was the first of Alberts career (and only his second pinch-hit home run overall). According to ESPN, it was also the first time in MLB history that a player with 40 or more home runs had hit an extra-inning pinch-hit home run. The home run was Alberts 44th of the season and, amazingly, represented the 30th game winning home run of his illustrious career. An MLB hologram (LH041486) is affixed to the lineup card. It's not easy; it's not easy to do it for one year and nine years in a row, it's pretty special." As with so many of Alberts milestones, it invited comparison to the all-time greats, as he passed Ted Williamss eight consecutive seasons of 100 or more RBIs. Following his three-run double, Albert was 8-for-10 with 27 RBIs with the bases loaded, one of many remarkable statistics in his 2009 MVP campaign. "What an amazing run of production with the bases loaded," observed Cardinals manager Tony La Russa. I don't change my approach," commented Albert. The landmark run came in the top of the third. With runners on second and third, the Royals elected to intentionally walk Pujols, who had already driven in two runs with a single in the top of the first. Right fielder Ryan Ludwick followed Pujols with a grand slam to left, and Pujols trotted around the bases and crossed the plate for the 1,000th time in his illustrious career. Pujols finished the game 1-for-3, having left in the fifth inning with the Cards up big. He was replaced by Chris Duncan at first base. Cardinals manager Tony La Russa marveled at Pujols' abilities after the game. "I just saw the replay of the hit he got," La Russa said. "That pitch is a ball. His plate coverage is amazing. He can hit the ball inside, outside." Pujols, who does not turn 30 until January, is now hitting .320 with 23 homers and 60 RBIs. Pujols, who is in his ninth season with the Cardinals, attended high school at Ft. Osage High in Independence, Mo., just outside of Kansas City. He later attended nearby Maple Woods Community College. Rustin Dodd is an associate reporter for MLB.com. This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images) Date created: 05 Oct 2011 THE PLAY THAT CHANGED THE MOMENTUM for the 2011 WORLD CHAMPION, St. Louis Cardinals!! This base was the ACTUAL base in which Albert Pujols threw out Chase Utley at 3rd base on October 5th, 2011. This was one of the GREATEST plays in St. Louis Cardinals PLAYOFF HISTORY!! In the top of the sixth, with the Cardinals holding a one-run lead, Chase Utley broke for second with the pitch on an apparent hit-and-run. Hunter Pence hit a grounder to shortstop. As Rafael Furcal went to throw the ball to first base and record the easy out, Utley took a huge gamble and tried to get to third base. Pujols saw Utley take off, and came off the bag to get the ball and throw Utley out at third base. He got him by several feet with a perfect throw -- see the picture above. Had Pujols stayed on the base, Utley would have been on third with just one out and Ryan Howard coming to the plate. A sacrifice fly would then tie the game. But Pujols instinctively came off the bag and nailed the lead runner. https://www.stlouismemorabilia.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=145220066 145220066 NLDS Game-Used 3rd Base from Games 3 and 4 (10/4 & 10/5/11) The Play Game Used Third Base October 5, 2011 An official Schutt base game-used at 3rd base on October 4th and 5th 2011 in both Games 3 and 4 of the National League Division Series against the National League East Champion Philadelphia Phillies.
